Just this afternoon Ursa Magna received a sad news. One of our first patients, boy I, 7 years old, had passed away we don't know yet the cause of his death but we do know that aside from his very un-infectious disease and good outcome, he was very ill lately due to sepsis. Sepsis is a deadly disease indeed for it is a generalized infection and was hard to overcome, especially in a very closed area such as the ICU which has various antibiotic resistent germs.
For those who didn't know the story, I was a happy, smart boy living with his parents in Tangerang. One day he just felt a bit unwell. That was when the paralysis complaint started. It was progressive from the feet up and finally I was unable to breathe due to respiratory muscle paralysis and was put on ventilator at ICU RSCM. The diagnosis was Guillian Barre Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease that can happen to anyone though at certain times can be preceded by an infection. He was ordered to have an immunoglobulin injected for 5 days (6 bottles per day). Unfortunately, each bottle costs over 2 million rupiahs. Upon desperation, the family whose breadwinner just got terminated from his job, was ready to go home. The kind Director of RSCM agreed to support 5 bottles of immunoglobulin per day. In a hurry, we tried to collect over 12 million rupiahs for this boy's recovery. With the money on hand from various big hearted donors, we started to support his treatment. Fortunately, he was signed in as Gakin soon and the money we donated was used by the doctor for various lab tests due to his condition on ventilator and later due to his sepsis condition. Whereas other treatment was covered by Gakin.
Though we don't know him personally but we grieved as those who had. Goodbye, I. May you rest in peace. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi roji'un.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the people who had reached out and give help for I.
May the Good Lord always blesses you. Amen.
